After some back and forth via email, we were sent a nice little 3 minute track from DJ/ Producer/ MC 14KT from the Atlanta area. This would be the first time teaming up with him and also a first working up with Mellow Music Group whom we'd go on to work on multiple projects with!
The idea here centered around a thief's journey through a genre factory. We'd have this thief break into the 'music factory' in order to help himself with the history of recorded music! Thus, this factory responds with sending this thief through the various genre's of music, and outputting this thief as a product himself.

When designing the character, I lobbied for an animation style one where we can get away with some of ideas we were discussing. I'll always encourage a simple animation style as there's just way more freedom, and the production is much less daunting than, say a more detailed realism that's usually much more rigid.

Borrowing heavily from some of my favorite Blue Note/ Jazz album covers, as well as my favorite classic animation elements ( UPA!). We weaved this animation along with KT's awesome track!
