1993

As much as I cringe at most of the work I was creating back then, I did a ton of it. I was starting a 2nd comic strip as well as delving head first into marker illustrations. This was about a year or so before I would become familiar with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. This art was strictly cut and paste in the crudest sense.

I'd always loved the texture of Design Markers® and the watercolor effect they usually produced! As far as gradients went, I was never proficient with an airbrush, and usually opted for spray paint on the paper whenever I needed anything close to a gradient.

Trouble was, often times something I'd spent days pencilling and inking would be trashed due to terrible color choices and would result in just being heartbroken. As a result, I usually stayed safe and would only use lighter colors.

1993 was pivotal, as, it really marked the end of my 'color markers' era and opened me up to the world of digital tools and coloring. As a friend of mine once noted "you'll never use your color markers again." He was right!
