Rock Shox Trade Show Booth

Updated: Dec 5

Emeline Bridge was a great little spot underneath Highway 1, where we were rarely disturbed and could freely experiment with little hassle. We'd spend afternoons there just trying out new fangled outlines and productions. Tosh Woods and I would often collaborate on countless productions including the one below:

This one in particular ended up in a Mountain Bike magazine ad. I called the number on the ad and told them I was the artist, and asked if they'd send us a t-shirt.

The rep from the company RockShox let me know that they were actually looking for me, because they wanted their trade show booth adorned with graffiti, much like under the bridge. I ended up getting hired for probably the biggest job I'd ever undertaken thus far. I always considered that the start of my professional career. I spent 5 weeks in a warehouse painting this entire structure. The entire booth was then shipped to Anaheim and featured at the now defunct Interbike trade show.

This all happened around the same month I'd started my new job at NHS, and it seemed like I woke up one day, and I was a creative professional. I'm still suffering from imposter syndrome all these years later, but, looking back at this period reminds me how quickly things changed and set me off on a career path I'd never planned nor dreamed of.
