Travel Journal- Kauai 2025

For years now, I've carried a travel journal around in order to notate and illustrate my travels abroad (as well as domestic). Inspired by my colleague and illustrator extraordinaire Michiel Offerman! On a visit to Amsterdam, we stayed with Michiel and his wife, designer Saar Manders!

Michiel showed me his own travel journal and I was hooked! We literally walked down to the legendary comic shop Lambiek, and picked up a great little Moleskine book along with some great pens.

Michiel's technique was to go straight to ink on paper, no sketching! That was a bit challenging for me being that I usually sketched with pencil first. But Michiel's technique was a great exercise in trusting your intuition and your initial line work!
